Modifying My Normal

Hi. It’s Monday. It is most likely my very last day of work until February. Yup.

The contractions I’ve been having for like four or so weeks now have finally caught up to me and I’m getting the hard yank via my doctors orders. I had to barter for today just because I have some non-negotiable work to get done. My note says I can work through Thursday, but I go back for a follow up appointment Tuesday that will dictate whether or not I make it through Thursday. I have my work shower that day, which is my motivation, but at the same time I am totally ready to be done. My body is just done.

Anyways, more on that on Wednesday.

My steps for the week, since I’m not really working out at this point, were hit or miss.

Monday I forgot to unplugg my Garmin 920XT and put it back on, but I know myself well enough to know I did not get to my 10k steps. Tuesday I still forgot my watch and put it on when I got home from work. I know I hit my 10k, but by how much I’m not sure. I also took Griswold for a mile and a half walk.

Wednesday I got just over 10k at 10,073 steps. Griswold and I walked a 1.1 mile loop through our neighborhood, too.

Thursday was a super busy, super tough day. I got to work around my usual 6:50 am and did not get home until almost 9:30 at night. Student Council hosted a Halloween dance and since I’m a Student Council adviser this year I help run all the dances. Not only was I super busy at work and running around all day, but I love middle school dances. And even at 35 weeks pregnant I was still able to get out on the dance floor and have fun with the kids. Dances I can do pregnant include to Cupid Shuffle and whatever the hell the Whip Nae Nae (I don’t even know what this means) is. Dances I cannot do pregnant include the Cotton Eye Joe. I can’t reach my feet to do two of the moves, but I sure did try my damnedest. All the dancing totally wiped me out though. I was fried when I got home and logged an impressive 14,042 steps for the day.

Friday I came in just under on my step goal at 9,329 and Saturday I came in even lower at 8400. No big deal. Both days included walks with Griswold too. A mile and then three quarters of a mile respectively each day.

Sunday I definitely came in under, although I did take Griswold for a mile walk with Rob. Then I napped for an undisclosed number of hours (read: half our clocks were still wrong and I can’t math) because daylight savings time totally destroyed and confused me.

I might be retiring my Garmin until I can resume normal, human level functioning activity soon though. I’m getting placed on “Modified Activity” this week and I don’t need the reminder that I’m not being active.

So in reality I’m just trying to survive today as my last day of work, most likely. I’ll find out for sure tomorrow. Either way Bing is coming in to get himself situated to reclaim the classroom that was his for 33 years and I’m happy he’ll be there for me.

Now it’s time for me to finally focus on me and my last few weeks of pregnancy. Hang in there, baby! We’re so close!

  2. I can’t tell if you are excited about not working anymore or not? I think it’s a good thing. You can use these last weeks to really take care of yourself, relax (trust me, sleep and relax as MUCH as possible), and spend some time with your husband. Go on a date. Get a pedicure. Watch movies and Netflix. Enjoy the time off. 🙂 Hopefully things go well this week.

      I am definitely excited. Work is exhausting when pregnant! But I feel a little guilty given I still have five weeks until my due date. I will take your advice though and make sure I relax and spend some quality time with my husband =)

  5. LOL, I bet the kids loved having you out dance with them! Have you seen the video of the little boys playing football and about half of them stop because Whip, Nae Nae song came on and they started dancing? It’s hilarious and I totally laughed and thought of that reading your blog.
