Running Into a New Week

Oh my goodness, break at last, finally.

Last week was hard. The kids was so excited, it was exhausting. By Friday I was definitely at the end of my rope, so it was nice to watch Home Alone and eat Christmas cookies with my kids. And we also got to watch the band and chorus winter concerts, which was so cute.

My job might not be perfect, but I’m really grateful that I enjoy it and genuinely love and care about what I do. The teaching market in New York is a horrible mess and I’m really happy that I managed to get a teaching job in such a nice district. I’m really lucky that I’m happy to go to work everyday. Really, really lucky. That said, I’m totally pumped about two weeks off!

My track kids did have a meet on Saturday and they did so well. We had a few kids who placed, including one girl who took the overall first place win in both her races. Proud coach right here!

Speaking of running, have I ever mentioned that Mirinda Carfrae is my athlete spirit animal? No? Well she is, I love Rinny. And I want to be her when I grow up.

Girl is so incredible. I want her to do a stand alone marathon and just beast mode the shit out of it. I mean, the woman holds the Ironman World Championship  run record with a time of 2:50:27. That’s her marathon time after swimming and biking 114.4 miles. Incredible. So yeah, run form. I’ll be working on mine.

My workouts this past week were nonexistant. On Tuesday I did some solo spinning and lots of strength training. Thursday I went to spin class. That was totally all I did. Big old fail right here. But it’s Monday, I have two weeks off, and I’m determined to get myself back on the wagon. I need, need, need to do something.

  1. So jealous! I had to work today and have to work tomorrow as well. But then it is nothing but naps and running until January 5th. I am so, so ready for this break!

  2. I think that we should all petition for Rinny to run a stand alone marathon. I would be so curious to see how she would perform. Such a beast! I have never thought about run form and technique. There are a couple clinics that my local running store puts on each year that teaches runners “good form” so I may have to check it out. I feel like I have been running so long that I wouldn’t know how to change what I naturally do, but it would at least be interesting. Have a wonderful break and holiday!!!
