Holy exhausted, Batman.
Not sleeping through the night really catches up with you after a while. And prior to having baby, I wasn’t exactly sleeping either, because there is no sleeping when your enormously pregnant. I haven’t had a real, full night’s sleep in months. I can feel it all the way down to my bones, every inch of me is just tired.
Hubby has been great trying to help me though. When I am dying to go to bed by Old Person O’clock he stays up with Ellie, then feeds and changes her before coming up to bed. I’ve gotten a couple of five to six hour stretches of sleep. It’s really helpful, but I still get up at 4am every night to a fussy baby, and still sucks. I don’t even get excited for bed anymore. Even though I’m so exhausted I know bed will not bring any relief. It feels like a tease.
I have been moving more. I got on the treadmill three times this week. I did 1.25 miles the first time then did 1.5 miles the other two times, slowly picking up a little more speed. My pace at this point is less than brisk, but I can only move so much or so fast with my tummy still healing, and that’s okay. I don’t plan to push myself hard, I’m just happy and grateful to be walking and slowly getting back to normal and human.
Rob and I also took Griswold and Ellie for a walk together Saturday and we did our usual .75 mile loop, twice as far as I managed to go last time we all walked together on Thanksgiving.
I’m down about 25lbs so far, which is a good start and I’m hoping the last 15lbs fall off quickly too. I went grocery shopping last night and hope all the healthy foods I bought will help get me to where I want to be. Getting my eating back on track with my own foods, now that we’ve gotten through all the food we were gifted after baby, is a big step and always gets me on the right track. Then in three more weeks I should be cleared to start working out again. But until then I will keep up my walking and keep hitting my treadmill.
Right now I’m doing all my walking while Rob is home. This week I’m planning to do one of my walks in the evening and see how it goes with having to time my workout with her nap time, since that’s what I’m going to be doing once I go back to work. Assuming I can get her to actually sleep in one of her own beds. She seems to get cranky at night and only sleep being held during the earlier night hours. So I guess we’ll see.
