Weekend Warrior

Up down, up down, that is my life.

We went away for the weekend and it was nice. We raced the inaugural Yuengling Lager Jogger 5k and I will have a full race report this week at some point. But the whirlwind trip to Bethlehem was so nice.

We had a nice drive down, checked into the Hotel Bethlehem which was super awesome. We walked around historic Bethlehem, walked around Moravian College’s campus, then racked up a decent bill at the hotel restaurant. Drinks, dinner, dessert, we just had such a wonderful time having a little date night away. It felt kind of like we forced ourselves to go down since we were registered for the race and had hotel reservations. The week leading up to it was long and we were both wiped out by Friday afternoon. But once we got there it was perfect. We both needed the trip, needed the date night, and had a perfect time. So worth it.

The drive back up to NY was less exciting. Reality of going back to life sank in. Oh life, why can’t you always be filled with awesome date nights and wine and running?

We got back a bit late and I had nothing planned for Monday for school. But by the time we got back, if I went to school I’d be lucky to get home by 9pm, I just had so much to do and not a lot of time to do it. I did some rough sketching out of lesson plans, looked up some resources, wrote a few things, then go up extra, stupid, ridiculously early so I could get to school earlier than usual. Because that was my other alternative.

I started my Monday off poorly an it just spiraled from there. At 530am I went to still my foot in my work shoe and started to stick my foot in when I noticed a bit of webbing on it. I grabbed it and started to pull it away, noticing it went all the way inside. Look in, giantfuckingspiderofdeath. I’m surprised for as tired as I was I even noticed the webbing on the edge of the shoe. But boy am I glad I did, because a spider on my foot at 530am would just be the best way to start my day ever *insert eyeroll here* Instead I threw the shoe across the room, squealed frantically, and proceeded to flail like a freak, feeling all creepy crawly. UGH. And that’s the story of how I wore dirty sneakers with dress pants to work yesterday. I also felt husband this note-

spider1

to which he replied-

spider2

I love that man. I can’t find my shoes, I have no idea what he did with them, but I sure do love him.

On top of my spider incident, I was at school by 615am and sitting in my room doing work. I could feel my ill-preparedness all day long. And I had a pre observation meeting with my principal and the lesson I spent almost four hours on he ended up having me gut and redo. The kids were wild all day and I was never not busy. The day just took everything out of me. I wanted to run after school. I knew it would help me feel better, but after a hard race Sunday, I needed to make sure I gave my injury time to recover, so my run is being put off until Today.

It’s just crazy that Saturday could be so perfect then today could be so… life.

Best part of your weekend?

Spiders- day ruined or an easy kill?

  1. AWE!!! That sounds like something my husband would do too. Haha!

Best part of my weekend: ran a local mud run with my husband and a friend. It was the friend’s first mud run, so I was happy to run it with her. She had a BLAST!!

Spider: easy kill for me. I probably would have smashed my shoe all over and killed the spider in my shoe then cleaned it out and worn it. (But I’m a little weird sometimes.)

Yay for a first mud run! You should come to NY and do my first one with me =P

I have since reworn my shoes. I had to check them both then clean them out myself, but I am wearing them again, lol

  2. Spider = day ruined. I would still be terrified that the spider is now somewhere in your house.

The best part of my weekend was a double date wine tasting with my best friend! Followed by more wine, lunch and board games. It was a perfect lazy Saturday.

Oh believe me, when he said he didn’t see it, my first thought was “fuck it’s in the house somewhere.” Hahaha

  3. Amazingly I don’t have an issue with spiders. I will usually find something to pick them up with and take them outside. I don’t like to kill them because ultimately they are the ones that eat the bugs I hate (long creepy crawly multi-legged things that hide in my basement). Best part of my weekend was hanging out with our friends on Saturday night. LOTS of laughs, good food, good beer and fabulous company.

Oh gosh, the multi legged things! House centipedes! They scare the freaking daylights out of me!

Good beer and good company definitely make for a great night!

  4. Your husband rocks! hahaha

Ran 4.5 miles on Sunday. Longest yet. Felt good but I was hurting yesterday and still am today. Looking forward to tonight’s strength class as it usually helps my hip pain.

Hate spiders but kill them. Sometimes I’ll ask the hubby to kill it if it’s on the ceiling.

Congrats on your longest run! Hitting that new distance is always such an amazing feeling =)

  5. Oh hell no, I do not do spiders!!!! I would burn those shoes! Maybe your husband already did? I’m glad you had such a fun weekend in Bethlehem and I’m so sad I had to miss it! Next time I’m in PA and don’t have to fly back early for training I will plan a race we can both go to!

Glad I got a good chuckles out of you! I dislike them very much. I don’t mind the long wispy ones in my basement, but this was the kind that if it bit me I’d end up with some weird infection or something nasty.

  7. Spiders!! Ahh – I would have burned my shoes – seriously. 😉 Your hubby on the other hand deserves a standing O! I hope school starts to settle down for you but I know that you are so much happier being back in the classroom.

The best part of my weekend was spending all day Sunday watching football and making a huge pot of soup. I am going to will the Fall to get here if it’s the last thing I do!

Football yay! I’m excited to curl up and watch football this Sunday.

  8. I wish I could post a picture of my run-in with a monster spider once. Total day crusher! HATE spiders. It was morning and I was reaching for my makeup bag, when all of the sudden I noticed webbing. I tipped the bag in a panic and out crawled a BLACK freakin WIDOW. I trapped it with a cup and took a picture before smashing it to its death. Not a good way to start the day, so I understand completely. And, I bought all new makeup because… the obvious.
