Weekly Recap: 6/30 – 7/6

This week was not filled with nearly as much training as I had hoped for. In fact, the only two days I actually did a formal workout were Tuesday and Wednesday. Part of the issue was due to my good goggles snapping in half somehow, so other than a short 1000 yards I got in on Wednesday with my crummy back up pair, I couldn’t swim. I could not see through my back up pair. Foggy, distorting, lines on the pool were bending causing me to bump the lane lines. So frustrating.

Tuesday I did to spinning, that’s always a great workout. Mostly my free time was sucked up with basement remodel work. Hubs and I spent the week drylocking all our basement walls and floors in an effort to start the finishing process down there.

Friday I had to run off to Syracuse so I could head up to Alexandria Bay for the weekend. Emily’s bachelorette party was over the weekend. I’m going to plead the fifth when it comes to my consumption from the weekend. But I’d like to think all the walking we did all weekend plus the crazy amount of dancing we did Saturday night counts as working out. My thighs are actually a bit sore after all the dancing I did. I busted out my sweet white girl moves. Lots of them. Have I mentioned I can’t dance? Because I totally can’t. But man do I love to try.

So to get myself back in gear after a few too many missed workouts this week I am going to start a run streak. These next two weeks will be tough since I’m working a crap load of over time. But I need to get myself back on track for real, so despite my overbearing work schedule I’m planning to start today. It’ll have to be after work (read: after working late, ugh) but I need this. So feel free to scold me if I don’t run everyday for a minimum of a mile for at least a month. Time to go streaking!

  1. I love how you opened up the post, I think that is completely okay to have weekends like that! I hope you had a great time at your friends Bachelorette party, memories are more important than worry about the food and drinks you consumed!!

    I did the RW Run Streak this past November through Jan 1, it was fun and am glad I did it!

      Glad to hear you enjoyed the RW streak. I was riddled with injuries during that time and couldn’t participate.

  2. I also did the RW Run Streak this past year from Thanksgiving to New Years. It was just over a month. I absolutely hated it and will likely never do it again. I think part of the problem was that I was started it after almost a month of just running sporadically (wedding + honeymoon). I thought it would be a great way to keep myself accountable during the holidays but I ended up just logging a bunch of single mile runs. It was extremely difficult to try to increase my miles each week because my legs never felt fresh. When I tried to start an actual training plan in January I felt so burned out and completely lacking in motivation.

      I’ve definitely fully recovered from Syracuse. My next race is a sprint this weekend followed by an Olympic the following weekend.
